CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL
St Patrick's Catholic Primary School and Nursery serve the parish of St Patrick's Catholic Church in Wellington and have a close association with the parish.
As a Catholic school our Christian Faith is central to our life as set out in our Mission statement:
Inspired by St Patrick,
through our example,
our endeavour,
our attitude and our love for each other,
we will try to live and spread the gospel message.
We believe our faith is experienced in relationships and in sharing experiences. We endeavour to make our school a place where visitors are welcome, where each child feels happy and secure and where there is an environment which celebrates the success and unique value of each individual.
St Patrick's is a happy, established and successful school. Many of our pupils have parents who attended the school. We set high standards for ourselves and our pupils and work together to achieve them.
If you would like to know more you are welcome to make arrangements to visit us or to receive a copy of our School Prospectus and can do so by contacting Mrs Kille, our School Administrator.

BLESSED ROBERT JOHNSON CATHOLIC COLLEGE
Situated on a large, modern campus at Wellington, the Blessed Robert Johnson Catholic College seeks to provide an education for 11-18 year olds that blends the very latest curricular thinking with traditional Christian moral values. BRJ is the only Catholic secondary school in the county, known throughout Shropshire for its excellent record of high standards in all areas.
The values of the gospels underpin all that happens within the college community. We actively seek to ensure that Love, Justice and Forgiveness are the foundations of the education provided.
In summing up BRJ, perhaps it is best to leave the final word to the OFSTED inspectors who reported that:-
The students are highly valued as individuals and their self-confidence is encouraged through many approaches. They behave well and know what is expected of them in terms of personal conduct and attitudes. Spiritual and moral values are strongly promoted and there are many opportunities for social development. The Blessed Robert Johnson Catholic College is a highly respected 11-18 school with a great many strengths.
Full transport assistance is available for Catholic children.

The Catenian Association - Shrewsbury Circle 113
The Association is a Catholic men's organisation that offers its members, their wives (whether Catholic or not) and their families the opportunity to meet socially and enjoy the company of others with similar beliefs, views and values.
"Catenian membership is about Faith, Family, Friendship and...Fun"
In addition to developing social bonds the Association assists members (known as Brothers) and their families in time of need, maintains and administers benevolent funds, provides a bursary fund to assist young people in their development and helps Brothers and their families in their careers.
There are over 10,000 members worldwide although the majority are in the UK. Branches are known as Circles
The Shrewsbury Circle covers a wide geographical area but most of its members come from Shrewsbury or Wellington/Telford. St Patrick's parish is well represented. The Circle meets on the third Monday of every month at the Wroxeter Hotel and meetings are followed by dinner and usually some social activity. The ladies regularly join Brothers for dinner and they, family and friends also participate in a wide range of social events throughout the year.
The Catenian Association is open to men who are, and must remain, practising Catholics. Anyone interested in being a Catenian should contact John Kearns on 01952 248231 or email jk6229@uwclub.net for more details.
The Youth Group is open to children of the parish and their friends of secondary school age (11-18).
Our aims are :
" To provide an opportunity for the parish youth to meet and socialise
" To understand and deepen our faith in an informal way
We meet weekly during term times in the parish room and regularly use the facilities of All Saints parish hall for games, and in the summer use the sports ground at St Patrick's Primary school.
We have developed close links with the All Saint's youth groups and are also supported by the Diocesan Youth Team.
In addition to regular games activities we have had quiz nights, video and pizza, fancy dress parties, 10- pin bowling, swimming at Waterworld, karaoke, a retreat week-end, walk up the Wrekin, treasure hunt on the Ercall, the diocesan camp, summer BBQ, Christmas party and lots more!
We always welcome new faces and helpers!

Members work for the good of their community in many ways e.g. Readers, Eucharistic Ministers, visits to the sick. They hold teas in the Belmont Hall for the wider Wellington community and assist "Helping Hand" with their work for the handicapped.

Association for the Propagation of the Faith
Around 80 parishioners have one of the "little red boxes" in their homes, collecting odd change for the APF to support the Missions. The boxes are emptied twice a year and over £2000 was raised in this way in our parish last year.
If anyone would like a box then telephone the local organiser, Mary Croston, on 01952 255991
A weekly draw, which gives parishioners an opportunity to win cash prizes while helping to boost the parish funds.
It costs just £1 per week and runs in 20-week sessions. Participants are registered and allocated a membership number. Each week after the 11.00 Mass, 2 numbers are drawn with a first prize of £20 and a runner up of £10 for the lucky winners. On the 20th week it's jackpot time when additional prizes of £100 and £50 are drawn.
Joining in is easy - parishioners can look out for an announcement of a new session or ask the Steward selling the newspapers etc before Mass.
We are a group of parishioners who provide a “Children’s Liturgy of the Word” within the 8.45
For further information or if you would like to help in any way you can contact the Parish Priest, Fr Alban Greenwood
Readers
A group of lay people who have volunteered to read the Scripture Readings and Bidding Prayers at the main Masses each weekend. A rota is produced every six months and, with a little training, all age groups are encouraged to assist with this important part of the Mass. Volunteering usually means having to read approximately once every 6 weeks or so.

There are currently about 30 Eucharistic Ministers active in the parish, their main role being to assist the priest in distributing Holy Communion during the Sunday and daily Masses. They also play an important part in the support of the housebound and sick of the parish by taking Communion to the homes of those who cannot get to Mass for various reasons. Some of the Ministers also lead the Eucharistic Services held in church when the priest is not available to say Mass.
Anyone interested in this ministry can speak to Father Alban. Training and induction is not a complicated process for such a key, and rewarding, role in the life of the parish
This ministry was set up as a means to welcome parishioners and visitors to the parish. It was decided that it would be good to see a friendly face when entering the church, especially for new parishioners, visitors and also friends and relatives of regular parishioners. The ministry has two functions the first is the obvious welcoming function at all of the masses to give out mass and hymn books, newsletters and any other correspondence which is relevant to individuals.
The second function, which is yet to be fully developed, is to find out if we have any new parishioners and make an extra effort to make them feel welcome. This would include a home visit with a small gift i.e. a posy of flowers and a card to welcome them to St Patrick's.
Volunteers to join the Welcome team are always welcome!
Confirmation Preparation
Young people from the Parish of St Patrick's in Year 8 and above at Secondary school who have been baptised are invited each year to prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Details of the Parish based programme are advertised in the Parish Newsletter when the date for the Bishop's visit to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Deanery has been announced.
